Granard Area Action Group ltd began its involvement with FAS in 1996 as sponsors of Community Employment Projects. The objectives set out by the Group is to assist long-term unemployed, through the sponsoring of Community Employment projects. Community Employment projects (C.E projects) range from developing our natural environment and cultural identity supporting and initiating job creating project and improving the skills of unemployed people.

Funding for the Organisation is through Locally organised Fundraising events, Longford Community Resources Limited (LCRL) sponsorship and Longford County Council. FAS also provided funding for the group, this funding is now under the remit of the Department of Social Protection.
